This building is the official residence for the Lieutenant Governors of Nova Scotia. Its construction began in 1800. It’s the Lieutenant Governor of that time, Sir John Wentworth, who ordered the house. Before arriving in Nova Scotia, he was Governor of New Hampshire, USA.
The Governor's house is located right in the heart of Halifax, on Barrington Street. On the picture, we can see this street in 1915.
The Nova Scotia Governor's house is currently the oldest viceroyal residence in North America.
From now on, Governor's House belongs to Queen Elizabeth II.
