Grandview Point

Grandview Point

At 2250m, it is one of the highest points, except for the Navajo Point and Desert View. Consequently, there is a little more rain and the forest is more dense than in other areas. This point is more distant from the river and the cliffs on top are generally less steep, so the trail is quite easy to descend into the Canyon. The best views are at a short distance from Grandview point since the official viewpoint is obstructed by trees. Before the El Tovar Lodge was built, Grandview was the first place along the rim to be designed for tourists, with facilities including a hotel built in 1895, but it was left derelict after only a few years of operation, not much is left of it today.
