It is in Mahon that can be found one of the best located seaports in the Mediterranean from a strategic point of view. It has been over 2000 years since small boats started drawing alongside here. This natural seaport (not transformed by man) has, among others, been conveted by Romans, French, English, Berbers and pirates of the seas...

Our port has had many uses such as a sourcing site, a crossroads for exchange and a place of refuge.

Mahon's Seaport

It has also allowed the occupiers of the island to control the maritime traffic throughout the centuries: from here, we managed to cut off the boats' route navigating towards Egypt or the Atlantic and the Americas.

The time as come to move to the second point of the trail.
