Albany Pomerleau, Doctor
After completing medical school in 1954 at Laval University and guided by the desire to work with his community, Albany Pomerleau started practicing at St-Joseph de Beauceville Hospital. He quickly specialized in obstetrics and had a passion for traumatology.
Dr. Pomerleau bought his house in 1955, where he lived and practiced for 25 years. At the hospital, the lead nuns recognized his selflessness, otherwise required by the Hippocratic Oath: ""I will use treatment to help the sick…""

An Involved Man
With his wife, Jeannine Marier, a nurse, they also succeeded in their personal lives by having six sons in seven years. In his spare time, Dr. Pomerleau was involved in the community by partnering with organizations for couples wishing to improve their communication skills as well as their marital and family life.
He was also chair of several professional, social and cultural associations: Medical Bureau, Physician and Dentist Council, Physician-Surgeon Association, school board, Prêt d'Honneur, Rotary Club, and was a member of the ""Jacques-Cartier Order"".
