An Appointment With History
We suggest that you start the tour in rang 3 north, at civic number 250. You will then take the road used by the Abenakis people even before the establishment of Saint-Victor. You will also walk in the footsteps of the first pioneers who cleared the land throughout the 19th century. You will then take the road taken by the pioneers who were involved in the development of Saint-Victor. They worked hard to make it a village where it feels good to live. It is a place where there is no shortage of work. People roll up their sleeves and help each other when difficulties arise.
The suggested route takes you to the past, the present and future of Saint-Victor. You will travel through the dreams and hopes of the first builders. They had to face terrible hardships: six fires (1897, 1916, 1931, 1941, 1948, 1958) that each time destroyed massive sections of the village, the Le Bras River's flooding, disease and several other barriers. None of these got the better of their determination. They fought hard to get through these dark periods with courage. Relive with them the creation steps of the Saint-Victor village as it is today and as we imagine it in the future.
