Colonel McCormick Square

Colonel McCormick Square

Work of Wheeler Williams, sculptor of Chicago, the bronze monument erected in front of the paper mill that marked the beginnings of the city, represents Colonel McCormick in his canoe, adventurer at heart, enjoying an activity that he loved. The sculpture was inaugurated July 30th 1956, one year after the death of Colonel.

Nearly 80 years later, we can admire from the mocument an exceptional view of the St. Lawrence River, the Pioneer park and St. Amélie neighbourhood, which would have probably never existed without McCormick's contribution to the development of the region.
